Amac44, I have a quarter like your first image. But on mine it's a nice smooth circular image at the top right of the mountain. Almost like it's a sunrise or sunset. (Sorry I can't currently post images.)

I'm going to look at some D mint WA quarters and see if they compare.

What I see on the D mint quarters is a main line of trees and then to create perspective, there are more lines of trees behind the main ones that get weaker and weaker as they "approach" the base of the Mountains.
I don't see anything obviously different than what you show in your pictures.
Is there something besides the trees that are supposed to look closer to the mountain and behind the main line of trees, where you see something that appears doubled?

I'm not trying to be a pain but do you mean close to the Letters EE or in the trees above the letters EE? If you could describe the exact position of what you are seeing that looks doubled and then exactly how it is different from another quarter, that might be helpful. It is difficult to tell in the pictures. Thanks, Bill

How about posting another picture but use a circle or arrow on the picture to indicate what you are seeing.

I do not see anything that does not belong there. That is part of the design of the rows of trees as explained earlier.
Thanks, Bill

Amac44, I have not "SEEN" the erupting Mt. Lassen, but have heard of it, and the photo you posted is what I was looking for on my quarters, but nothing so far. That is a nice photo. Dick
