Hello:

Can anyone give me any information on these? I thought I was buying 40 Ontario Dept of Highways tokens, but these two were included. Same size, I almost overlooked them. I can't find a reference anywhere on the Scarborough one, but I did see an ebay sale for approx $24 on the Etobicoke one.

Thanks!

Transit tokens for bus or street cars. The location was when the income had to be split among a number of government thieves in office! it let them know how many of the local tokens were sold and used. that is what happened in general with them. Later they would keep count of how many where sold at each location. It became cheaper than sorting them by location etc.

Thank you, Circus. I'm just north of Toronto so a little familiar with the TTC (Used to ride it about 30 years ago). I actually found out that these two tokens were commemorative for the opening of the Etobicoke and the Scarborough lines. There were originally 1000 of each minted. Info is on the tokencatalog.com website.
