Hello!

I am not a coin collector, but when my grandfather passed away, he gave me a bag full of coins that he had collected. I was looking through the bag and located two gold coins. I was wondering if someone would be able to tell me a little bit about the coins and could estimate the value of these coins.

Thank you so much.

The first coin has the year 1915 on the front. On the back it reads: GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT:OMN:REX F.D.IND:IMP:

The second coin has the year 1791 written on it and on this same side it says: M.B.F.ET.G.REX.F.D.B.ET.L.D.S.R.I.A.T.ET.E
On the other side of the coin it says: GEORGIVS III DEI GR ATIA.

Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate it!

The first coin is a King George V sovereign.

The second is a King George III guinea.
I think you made a typo, M.B.F.ET.G should be M.B.F.ET.H

The value is 41 shillings. :)

OK The value is basically their weight in gold,
because they are worn and have something soldered on to them.
I think you should leave them as they are.

The guinea might be worth a bit more than its gold melt value, because it is from 1791 and George III.
Just these two is not a bad collection. If your grandfather had those, he might have had a lot of other interesting coins.

and

Just a small comment/correction, the Sovereign was equal to a Pound = 20 Shillings while the Guinea was equal to 21 Shillings.

You are welcome.
Be sure that you add weight and diameter when in doubt, for some coins that is important.
