Would this be legal to own in the U.S. given the laws involving trade with terrorist organizations?

Will be very interesting to see if they actually come through with this. Very ambitious of them. tkbslc does bring up an interesting issue, I'm sure there will be embargoes on anything produced by the IS.

Lots of open space and fine details on these coins. Good luck getting any 70's out of them. . . .

I just caught this story on Bloomberg--and see it's already on CCF. If these coins are actually struck, I'm sure there would be some collector interest as historical objects. But I would have a hard time buying one if my money finds its way to this organization.

Will this be circulating coinage or bullion? Make sense it would be on a gold or silver standard if they captured enough reserves. People wouldn't be accepting of a fiat currency made by them. Outsiders would much prefer something they could melt and effectively launder.

My question is how much blood is going to be involved in the production of these coins. Are gold coins going to be made from gold filings / dentures?
As gruesome as it may sound - this has happened before in history.

I'm sure they have looted plenty of gold and silver from banks, historical sites, as well as the population. I'm also sure some would trade gold for cheap oil on the black market. I guess they could always go medieval and just hammer them to mint the coins. Does Iraq have a current mint? Where is it located?

Where would ISIS get the coin machinery, probably the same place they get their portable refinery equipment, Alibaba.

The design of these has changed since the last time I saw this proposal, and that was last week. It all seems pretty nebulous to me. Just remember these are the same guys who drew their plans for world domination over a map from the strategy game Victoria II (the giveaway is Austria-Hungary and the strange things happening to Italy), so I have certain doubts about their technical expertise...

I still think its a smart move for them to go on a gold standard would trade. They have no chance to trade globally outside of resources such as oil gold etc.

What does the script on the coins say? Can anyone translate that for me? Seems like only the center bits are different for each coin.
Anyways, I'm not worried about these guys. If their coins come my way I will be physically melting them on the spot. I guess the only way for them to stop the melting would be if they guaranteed their currency to be worth more than the spot price. And I would still melt them...

I wouldn't buy these at all, they are blood money.
