I have a modest collection of Finnish coins, but I don't have either of these two. Most of my coins are circulated although I do have several mint sets from the 1970s and 1980s.

I like 1 Markka coins and have a fairly complete collection but my favorites are probably pre-independance 5 and 10 Penni coins. There's something special about big copper coins.

I mostly have the older Finland coins, like you have shown. I especially like the silver commemorative coins.

Even the more modest copper coins, like this early 10P, have a great look to them.

Apparently Finnish coinage was issued for every year right through WWI and the Russian Civil War. And they didn't even switch to temporary materials either.
Kind of unexpected considering how directly the country was affected - a lot of places are too busy to mint during any major war (and even more places make their coins out of zinc or iron or other temporary stuff like that).

There's an aesthetic to Finnish coins that I really appreciate. They're beautiful in their simplicity.

I just purchased this commemorative and I find it to be just amazing.

Even the coins produced during the pre-independance years have a real beauty to them.
