Trying to hone my skills a bit. Besides minimal rim damage I was wondering about the tiny spots all over it. Normal? Thanks. Ed

I wouldn't personally go after it, just because it could be fake. The holes and the green residue that looks like verdigris make it very suspect.

They call it a "Civil War Antique" but other than that it appears to be a genuine 1877-S half dollar. This is a well worn common date with some problems.

Looks real to me. No better than VG10.

They are a little bit off calling it a "Civil War Relic". The War was over 12 years before that coin was minted.

Thanks. I didn't see the green stuff, was focused on the speckled appearance. That's why I was asking. Looks authentic to me also, but might have some minor environmental or corrosion issues. I agree no better than VG10.
