Auctioning as a GEM 1936 'S' Walking Liberty half MS-65 - full mint bloom, a superb patina. No mention of 'cleaned'

Views would be appreciated

No mention of finger prints either. Nice way to ham hand a silver coin! Doesn't look MS65 to me....far from it...but I am no expert

I would not bid on that one. Typical strike at best, but think the MS 65 is a little optomistic, but I am not an expert. Hate pictures of fingers and often will refuse to bid when pictured like that. But that is just me. Also I wonder about the toning.

But this is not one of series so I would wait on this one.

But what do I know?

Too much rub on the high points on BOTH sides of this one.

Please don't listen to a thing an auctioneer says about a coin. Make your own decision. Not sure about the strikes or value of the coin, but I have become soured on buying raw coins from online auctions unless I'm 99% sure about it.

I don't see any full mint bloom on this coin and definitely not a Gem MS65.

I'd pass. The seller doesn't know what he's talking about. Definitely nowhere near a 65.

Don't go near it; it certainly ISN'T gem! Lot misdescribed.
Some luster, sharply struck reverse, but obvious wear on the obverse, especially on Liberty's head and boobs.

At best it is worth no more than half of his starting bid.
Rest in Peace

I would not buy any coin from someone who handles a so called Gem with their bare hands. Add the seller to your list of excluded sellers.

That's actually more than a decent strike. Not full details but on the upper end. Note the thumb detail. Also the glare might be obscuring detail on the face. It does look like it might have been dipped.

I'm not seeing a lot of "dents and dings" in the photo, so IF it is MS then I don't see why it wouldn't go MS64/5.

Prices for AU examples were all over the place on ebay when I just checked. I think we can discard the real low, realized prices, as VF/XF coins described as AU. Actual AU's seem to be going for about $40 to $100; with most around $55 +/- $10.

MS, on the other hand, are easily $200, and a coin in a 4 holder can garner considerably more.

This is one coin I would have to see in hand before taking a gamble with my own money. Especially if it looks dipped. You never know what a grading service is going to do with a dipped coin.

Bottom line, I think I would pass at this price level. Though I might pick it up at the $69.99 level,MIGHT.

I'm a dealer and sometimes you have to take a chance with crummy pics. In the long run, that's how you make money. Lol, and NO this is NOT my coin.

Well, surprise, surprise - no other bidders, so 99.50 was the final price.
