A few years back I found a little coin shop downtown Cancun which is a 10 minute bus ride from the resort area. I cant give you the name or address as I don't remember but there are some shops there. I always strike up conversations with taxi drivers and try to buy any of their useless Canadian Loonie and toonie tips from them. My kids get a kick out of it when I buy three or four loonie or toonies for One American Dollar. Goodluck and have a safe trip Randy. I had very little luck there....tried to sell me a beat up Libertad for $80 American....LOL. There can be amazing deals on foreign coins because their demand for Canadian coins just isn't there plus they won't know what they have, but you can get taken just as easily. In the cabbies on words " Canadian coins are worthless to them". Try to take 3 or four loonies or toonies to the bank in Mexico for a currency exchange and let me know how you make out! Like I said in my first post...a couple of loonies or toonies are worthless to them. At least he can do something with the almighty american dollar.
