I'm thinking about purchasing this ring for my wedding band. Its from a ship wreck in my hometown. I'm just not to sure about it since I cant see the origin or strikers mark. I'm also not sure if its 2 escudo since I cant see the "2S" or weigh it since its already in the ring. I'm also afraid that it could be a replica. Any help you guys could provide me would be greatly appreciated the big day is 12/13/14 so its creeping up!!

The cross reminds of the reverse of a Spanish 2 Escudo from the 17th century.
But from the picture one cannot determine much more, needs a clearer/larger picture. Most likely a cob would have to been clipped to size to fit into that setting.
The denomination would be in Roman numerals at the side of the shield, II or rather two horizontal lines on top of each other at the side of the arms.
