I have not gone through a box of half dollars for a couple of years now, and by only one then was a

SKUNK!

I am going to order a box next week to look do over Thanksgiving break (High School YN here.) Can anyone offer advice on which banks are best for finding silver? Basically every bank under the sun has a branch in my area.

I say seek out the banks that will order for you at no cost. Try Comerica, or Independent, or Key to name a few (well, you asked), and they cater to account holders that don't watch their change for silver, therefore, more silver in the rolls!

Seriously, there is no such thing as a particular bank name that's best for finding silver. That's like trying to seek out a Walmart store that carries a better line of Cool Ranch Doritos, lol - nope, they're all the same. It's just that some banks may have easier access to the coinage you seek.

Personally halves bore me to death because of lack of finds the last few years. Of course, the price of silver has tanked and many are dumping their coin, especially the 40%, so that may help the silver pool. Good luck.
