I was at my drop off bank a couple of days ago and the teller told me I can't bring in just one type of coin to put into the coin machine anymore because apparently the machine has difficultly handling just one type of coin rather then a mixed lot and ends up breaking. I don't understand how that would happen and was wondering if anyone else has heard of this?

I think those machines seperate each coin into its own bag so 50 lbs of only pennies or what have you probably overloads that particular bag quickly so they need to change it before you can continue.

The tellers also say that their coin comes from the FED, so...
There are so many different machines that you just can't generalize, but normally it shouldn't make a difference.

Ive dumped single denoms for years.
