I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a value for this coin I just had graded. It is a 2014 Mint Error $50 American Gold Eagle Struck-Thru Obverse.

I've already been offered quite a bit more then that. I dont know how rare something like this is for the 2014 1 oz. eagles. I have seen a few other error coins on MCM and APMEX but none of them looked like this one. They were selling for about $1600 and none of them are currently available.

Errors can be tough to value and this one is very tough. The value is dependent on the metal content and a buyers willingness to fork over a premium for a major strike through. My guesstimate would be around $1500 or so. I'd contact Fred Weinberg and/or James Sego before selling however. It could be worth closer to $2,000 to the right buyer.
