Hello All!

From 22 Dec to 2 Jan I will be in Stuttgart, Germany. Can any collector knows the area advise me the cool numismatic shops or coin dealers I shall visit?

I collect world coins are/were in circulation but not euros. I am a one for each country collector. Currently I would like to add these countries to my collection. Biafra, British North Borneo, Crete, Demerara-Essequibo, German East Africa, German New Guinea, Guadeloupe, Italian Eritrea...etc.

Is there any thing you all can think of that would be fun to keep an eye out for?

Thanks for the help

They have some quite good, and expensive, coin magazines which will tell you of any coin shops in the city, and potentially any coins shows, though I'm not sure they happen at this time.

If you get the chance to go to Rothenburg ob der Tauber I'd advise that too.

Hmm, the time between Christmas and New Year's Day is usually "slow" here. ;) The annual coin show in Stuttgart, for example, is in September, and I don't think there are any auctions either. The mint in Stuttgart cannot be visited, but the Landesmuseum has a coin cabinet. If you are interested: http://www.landesmuseum-stuttgart.d...enzkabinett/

As for dealers in the area, you could try the BW Bank. Yes, a bank, but they also sell coins (and I think they have an exhibition too): http://www.bw-bank.de/de/privatkund...kabinett.jsp

Two other dealers (don't have any personal experience with them though) are Sonntag in Stuttgart http://www.ams-stuttgart.de (primarily auctions but they should have a walk-in store too) and Brandt in nearby Tübingen http://www.klassische-muenzen.de

Hope this helps. Enjoy your stay!

Christian

Rothenburg ob der Tauber, noted. Thanks!

addition to that I heard that most old shops closed because people are buying coins on internet.

I am going to buy a stuttcard at the airport. And I think landesmuseum is included.

Thanks for your help. I will try Sonntag and Brandt.

The coin and bullion shop of BW Bank is right on the main street close to the railway station. They sell mainly bullion coins but might have some world coins too, especially German colonial. If you visit the city center, as I guess you will, you'll have a chance to quickly stop by ...

Sonntag might be closed between Christmas and New Year, so you should probably give them a quick call in advance.
