http://www.ebay.com/itm/ESTATE-SALE...em418005fcb1This auction is another "hoard" supposedly assembled by a former Congressman. How would they have lifted a "ton" of coins + old-looking chest to put that sheet under it to take the pictures? It seems as if the thing is full of cents with the silver sprinkled on top.

Maybe I'm crazy but it seems like even if it is full of cents it's a good deal? I see enough silver on the top to be worth the 50 dollars he's asking, just kind of confused.

Considering just pennies if they weighed 3.11 grams each it would take roughly 454 grams or 146 pennies to equal a pound. 146 divided in 4 is roughly 36 pennies. Imagine if the coin were bigger? Total misrepresentation of what you actually get. I also notice certain key words being used such as Hoard Estate Silver and Gold. But they even say "Gold Flake" Thanks for sharing. Buyer Beware!

Again, like his "jarring ofer", it's showmanship. It's Salesmanship. He is creating an impulse buy. I want to imagine most of customers are not seasoned numismatists yet I would not doubt a handful of seasoned collectors might take a stab for $50 on this auction. Also, you can create a return case with the bay and get your money back if its that horrid an experience when you have the coins.
Here is a treasure chest of copper and bronze wheaties/IHs with some strategically placed half dollars, dollars and quarters for the picture. The story is a crock of nonsense that he made up for the auction. He's sold 941 of them so he knows what he is doing. And his feedback is not about him being a jerk or a crook, its mostly neutrals with people saying "meh".
I won't say "Buyer Beware" but I will say "Buyer Be Educated".

from the description: Quote: Please buy more than 1 lot! If you buy just one lot I will be charged so much in fees and shipping costs that it will make it tough for me to continue to offer this lot at such a great price Rip-off. Rip-off. RIP-OFF!

The bit I don't understand, is how the coins can be "simply scooped up" unsorted, yet he can give guarantees as to how many silver coins, and coins over a certain age?! He even guarantees that there will be at least one minted during the war. The man must have other-worldly skills of foresight.

Funny how a BU(or AU) Peace dollar is front and center in one of the pictures. And that "1937 3 legged buffalo" review by "Mary C."

This whole thing is probably staged with the coins shown probably only an inch or so deep on top of a pillow or other stuffing inside of the trunk.

If you look at the reviews it used to cost $34.50 before he realized he could raise the price with all of the sales.
