Hey there to you all, I was wondering for all the forum topics from United Kingdom, Canada, world, and the U.S, how many Moderators, and forum dads, and bedrock of the community are there? It might sound like an odd question, but I am curious... And are there any rare names on this forum. In addition, who here on the CCF has the most posts/replies? I know about: SPP, Jbuck, and Bobby. Thanks in advance! Edited by Vancouver IslandCoinKid 12/03/2014 9:11 pm

I think Rui has the most posts. I don't know how many moderators we have. Should be close to ten or slight more, although not all of them are very active. I think there are 5 bedrocks not including moderators. I myself am nearing 5k posts

"Rui" is our forum technical help. He has moderator superpowers but only uses them to fix the forum when one of the other admins or moderators breaks it. His post-count is padded artificially high, so that if some tweak to the forum code makes anything bad happen to high-count members, it'll happen to him first. That makes jbuck the most prolific actual poster on the forum. "Bedrock" is a title granted to any non-Moderator who has more than 10,000 posts; it doesn't grant any extra powers other than bragging rights. The "forum mom" and "forum dad" are the owner-administrators of this forum. By my count, there are currently 17 admins and moderators on the books. Of those, about five have "gone yeti", for reasons known or unknown, and haven't posted for at least a month or more. All the moderators currently have "global" powers, meaning we can moderate in any part of the forum. Some of us have more expertise than others in different areas, so are more likely to make edits etc in those areas. Quote: are there any rare names on this forum. All of our forum usernames are rare. They're so rare, in fact, that every single one of them is unique. I'm sorry, but apparently I haven't understood your question. Can you elaborate?

I found 13 on the first three pages, as well as Forum Dad & Mum. They all do an excellent job; I am very thankful for their work. It is they who as individuals, do most to keep the CCF as the very happy Forum that is is, and explains why the CCF is so popular.
CCF is the ONLY coin forum of which I am a member, although I 'lurk' on others.

hahaha lurk is a good word, what I meant by rare names is just by meaning the low amount of bedrock and moderators or rest in peace. you pretty much answered my question.

Ah, I see. You mean "rare titles". Yes, there are a couple of other unique titles. Some of them, such as "Forum Kid", were granted way back when the forum was founded to members who were active at the time. Others were granted to special guests and representatives of Mints and other organizations who are or were here in an official capacity. "Rest in Peace", of course, is granted when we are made aware that an active member has passed away.
Other forum titles are granted for less-than-honourable activity. "Spammer" was one we used to use, until we got hit by a whole wave of spammers once and got sick and tired of editing it in. I also recall with anti-fondness one new member who, on discovering that he needed 50 posts to buy stuff on the forum, decided that the best way to attain that goal was to open posts at random, slam his fists onto the keyboard and click "reply". 50 times. He chose to do this at a time when no moderators happened to be online to stop him. After spending a frustrating hour going through the entire forum and manually deleting a whole bunch of posts that consisted of words such as "weufvoweuy" or "qwyevtuqwjhbr", we gave the pest the title "Forum Trash".

The title "Forum Kid" came for the first YN member who earned recognition for service to the forum. Some of the titles like that date to the earlier days of the Forum, when things were happening for the first time and nobody here was within sniffing distance of 10k posts. We're a more mature community now, almost a decade later, needing a more structured environment. Not everybody knows everybody else any more, not with over a thousand unique members having posted in the last month.

Related question: What does the forum look like from the screen of one of the mods? I've always had an idea of it looking different somehow.

It does look a little different. There's a whole row of extra buttons up top, where you've got "Active", "My CCF", "Search" etc. They're admin tools, letting us quickly search the forum and membership database in several different ways and access other staff-only functions (such as the swearword filter). The "big red flashing light" mentioned in the Rules, that goes off whenever anyone clicks on a "Send note to staff" link, is also there. There are a few extra buttons on people's posts, that allow us to quickly edit, lock, delete or split a Topic if the need requires. But apart from that, my typical CCF thread page looks much the same as it does for you.

What about "on vacation"?

At one stage, when members were banned or suspended from the forum, they were automatically re-labelled as "On Vacation". Old help thread on the subject. Unfortunately, this caused more problems than it solved - people would take it literally and try to e-mail banned members asking them how their vacation was going - so this no longer happens. During the period, some members may have had "On Vacation" manually edited as their title, but apart from that, you shouldn't see it on the forum anymore.

I'm enjoying this topic a lot more than I had imagined I would when I clicked the button! Thanks for the "CCF History 101" Sap & sSuper! Cheers to the OP, CoinKid as well.
