Leaving tomorrow (Monday 3/02) for my annual 6-day backpack trek in the Arizona desert canyons.

Destination this year is the Santa Teresa wilderness area ... always enjoy these trips with my lifelong hiking buddy.

Photo below from the 2014 hike ... I'm to the right ... Robbie and his hiking dog to the left. Lunch break in the bottom of an unnamed canyon.

I'm back late Sunday 3/09 ... will enjoy catching up with everyone then.

Sounds nice, though it doesn't look like desert to me.

How many miles do you walk per day ?

What times do you walk ?
Rest in Peace

I want to say this politely, but don't know how.

The dog looks as old as the hikers.

Home safely now ... with a recharged spirit from 6 days off the net with no electronic access.

Lovely 2015 winter desert hike ... truck was parked at 5300' elevation and we ventured into the AZ wilderness area ... no trails ... lots of water and many years experience doing so.

Brought the 'old' dog along ... LOL at mcshilling polite but accurate comment.

First time for us in the Santa Teresa wilderness ... learned quickly that it was very vertical ...

Photo here of my life-long hiking buddy about to descend the same pitch as the opposite canyon wall ... no trail ... just bloody straight down ... with loose rock!

We spent five nights in the desert ... and managed to find enough flat spots to set up nightly camps ... here we are with a dusk fire warming the 40F evening.

Pleased to be home ... my spirit is glowing from the lovely 6 days in my desert home ... I commend to all a 60 pound pack with no trail as a lovely method to clarify what truly matters.

Sounds like it recharged your batteries by getting away from all the hustle and bustle for a bit!

Have you ever hiked in or around the superstition mountains? I have always wondered about the lost Dutchman mine and whether it is just folklore.
