Seeing doubleeagle58's recent post about his impressive 1797 S-143 has inspired me to look again at, and share some of my coppers.
This 1795 with lettered edge, S-73 has nice even colour and surfaces.
How would you guys grade it?

Interesting how the "5" got merged into the bust.

I see it as a G-6.Talk to the EAC people and you'll get a different grade for each side.

Borderline 8 overall? Reverse surely the better side. Bottom line : I'd be pleased to have it.

Germanicvs that's another beautiful coin with nice surfaces

I just looked at my S-73 (which got a details grade) and in comparison yours and mine look to be different varieties. Is it possible that yours is an S-74?
S-73 has a hyphen between R and T.
S-74 has the top of the 5 reaching into the bust and the pole touches the bust.

The obverse looks like 6, and the reverse 8. I would give it a 7 if I could.

Nice coin.

Thank you, all for your opinions.

cipster, your are correct, this is not S-73. Maybe it was me unconsciously wishing it was one....
But, if I am not mistake (again!), it is S-75. Just done checking images at HA and it sure looks like it.

I can't believe I had it misattributed all of these years.

It is S-75. On 73 and 74 the ends of the wreath are single leaves and on 76a ONE CENT is very high in the wreath and the leaves below C and T are vertical.

Grade? I'd call it VG-8 possibly even a 10. Not quite enough detail to be a Fine.

IMHO, VG-10 looks about right. The planchet looks above average, and the obv/rev wear is well-balanced. My guess for an EAC grade is VG-8.
