HI everyone, I think that this Mughal Indian Rupee may be a Shah Jahan, but I'm really not certain of the date or mint. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Cannot be Shah Jahan, you see one date at 7 o'clock on the left picture, namely AH1103 which works out to be AD1692.

Medieval- ah, so you think that it would have to be Aurangzeb? Are you accidentally counting part of the "box" of hte central design as part of the date? I actually see the date 1032 or 1030, which, I realize now, would actually be Jahangir.

You might be right, cannot say it's 1032 but 10xy with the x 2 or 3. You have the advantage of being able to turn and twist the coin to clearer read the date - but at least you found it.

Looks like 1032 to me as well based on the lengths of the upper segments of the last two digits. But it certainly must be 1022, 1023, 1032 or 1033 - those are the only possibilities.

Hi everyone, I just realized that it is 1042 - it is difficult to see the upper part of the Nasta'liq "4."

Can you post a picture of the numeral you are referring to.
I guess I should have figured that Arabic script went through a similar evolution as other numerical scripts.

The image could be considered a Farsi '4' but not a regular Arabic one.

Ah, I'm now pretty much sure that the date is 1042. But is anyone knowledgeable of determining the mint?
