A pair I picked up today. The 1890 As (Alamos, Sonora) has damaged areas at its periphery, while the 1894 Ca (Chihuahua) has little enough wear that flow lines near the edge are still sharp (detail photo shows this).
Despite the relatively robust recorded mintages, as a practical matter I find it more difficult to locate specimens that were struck in northern branch mints such as these. I speculate that if the bulk of such output was still circulating in the region at the time of the Revolution (and the severe economic chaos and monetary displacement that ensued), it suffered an unusally high rate of attrition as a result.
