I was thinking it would be better than a G-4 to G-6, but the reverse probably holds it back. I payed $23.00 labeled VG-8 at my local coin store because that was the only lower grade one he had. Why are they more expensive even at 7 million minted.. Is it because a lot were melted?

G4. the consistanr color with signs of dirt in the recesses leads me to believe the coin was cleaned. Even at VG8 that was quite pricey. If you can return it I would think of doing it

This guy has a strict "No returns" policy but I buy from him anyway because it's convenient and it's the only place near me where I can look at the coins in person before I buy.

This could probably go VG on a good day, but I think G6 is a safe call.

G06. If I could see a wheat line or 2 it might stretch to VG08.

The reverse is weakly struck, though not as weak as many. I think F-12.

F12/15 - very late reverse die state, typical of the issue.

G8 to me.
I might have paid that if it was a solid F or better.
Too bad he doesn't have a return policy. As a rule of thumb, I never buy from a dealer without one.
Even when I buy one online, I still get to see the coin once it's delivered, with the option to return it if I don't like it.
Also, if they offer free shipping, your not out anything!
