Turns out this bank uses Brinks... All clear wrappers.

I got some dimes from my local branch. Scanned them all, a few back to back dimes made me look twice, but no silver sandwich (I have a few mercs I used to see what it really looks like).

So no luck... is it worth breaking them open to search for anything else?

How do people return Brinks bundles... in their original rolls? Or do banks make you break them open and pour them in a bag? Will I get a weird look for returning 50 shrinkwrapped coins?

I've searched some but figured I would make this a /sadface non-beginners luck post as well as soliciting advice :)

You can't give up after only 50 rolls - try 50 boxes, you may have much better luck! If you can find a different supplier than Brinks, you might do better, as Brinks may service Coinstar machines in your area, and those may reject silver.
I've gone through $100,000+ in dimes and I always avoided Brinks.

I dumped separate re-rolled, loose ($500 bags) or ran through coin counter, always at a different bank than I picked up at.

Nice-I wish I could find some clear wraps. It would take me about 5 mins to scan a box. As a former bank teller, I always looked forward to the weekly shipment from brinks to scan for silver . Keep searching, I almost always found silver in dime boxes.

Is it worth breaking them open? It just depends on you. There are a few non-silver coins that can be found. I once found a 3 cent nickel from the 1800's. Also, it's possible you are missing silver if you don't break them out. For me, the answer was yes when I searched but would probably be no if I could simply deposit them by the box.

Can you return them in original rolls? It depends. The answer to this question would be different all over the country. However, if you have several banking options, there's a good chance you'll find someone who will accept the rolls as is. That said, some banks have a policy that all coins must be deposited loose.

The reality is that you have to do your own scouting. Banks in every region behave differently. If you read on here that "Bank of America won't sell halves", don't assume that it applies to you. Things are different person to person, region to region, bank to bank, branch to branch, and even manager to manager.

Got that right my friend - where I'm at, I get canadian white edges in almost every dime roll. I look for the edge patina, ha ha. I'm in the US. You can hope that it's a canadian dime; in the end, you open the roll.
