While going through ebay's archives I saw this listing for a Capped Bust half dollar that looks "off". Is this a modern or contemporary counterfeit or are my eyes just playing tricks on me?

My .02 I'm not a scholar on these coins, but it looks like a modern cast copy.

I think it's a contemporary counterfeit that slipped through a busy seller's scrutiny. Not positive, though.

Given the strike, the date, and the particular pattern of wear, there's little doubt it's a counterfeit.

It appears to be an 1832 1-A contemporary counterfeit, common.

Def a counterfeit, more than likely a contemporary counterfeit. Those are even worth a few bucks.

Yes and probably a German silver alloy signature with normally a trace signature of cobalt in this German silver (Cu/Zn/Ni) alloy mix based on my research into the CC Family.
