Hello! While CHR today in the US, I found a Canadian nickle in a mint state condition. After looking at the date, I found that It was a 1951 nickle with two dates on it. If you could answer these questions, I'd be great! Questions: Is this a rare coin? What are the meaning of the dates on this coin?

i believe you have found a 1751 to 1951 commemorative canadian 5 cent denomination composition nickel. This is for the founding of the nickel element in Sweden 1751. By Swedish chemist A.F Cronstedt. This was when only three canadian commemorative coins had ever been issued, utilizing the silver dollar. The design was an entry in a competition. Many people when it came out, thought that this coin was a mistake because it did not bear the date 1851 instead of 1751, however this was not the case. Interesting coin to find in the states! value= $1 from VG-8 to VF-30 and higher prices for a nicer grade. This is not a rare coin, unless it is something else.

For future topic threads, please add more information, such as what the dates are, and what the edge of the coin looks like. Is it a 12 sided coin?
