What are some of the references that you use for
your series or numismatics in general. I find that
past RCNA journals along with auction catalogs and
ICCS publications helpful

I have a 1996 Charlton's and a 2010 Coins of Canada. My library has a lot of coin books and catalogues too but on average they date back from the 80s. Some about British coinage dates back to the early 1800s. For Canadian they have Zoell, Haxby, Charlton, Breton, and other names I'm not familiar with, most are from the 60s to the 80s. They keep up with their RCNA journals though, they have everything from 1956 to the latest. I can borrow most of everything except for the ones currently in the reference room or the journals.

Everest, you'll find this forum an excellent source of information. It's my major resource along with a couple other forums. I do use the charltons and have a few books on tokens English coins and currency.
This is a great topic. It will help to know what titles are out there. I also have a Haxby book from the '80's on the history of the Royal Canadian Mint. I think it's Striking Impressions. A very good history up until early 1980's.

pocket change 50, it's called Striking Impressions, printed in 1984. It's an excellent book, with beautiful illustrations. I constantly check that out of my library, and still haven't finished reading it yet. Too much school work...

It has a very plain-looking silver cover.

@ Slur I appreciate your correction, I've updated my post. It certainly is a great book and I thoroughly enjoy rereading it. I'm trying to track down the 2008 book the RCM released with a 50 coin. I would love to own a copy of the history they put out for their 100th anniversary. I just became aware of it about 6 months ago through an ebay ad. I don't know it's title either? There's also one the mint was including for the war of 2812 with a $300 purchase. Recently they had one book on the wars included when buying a set of three war coins.

At Slur where are you going to university and what your field of study. I believe I've forgotten. It seems you've figured out your storage issues at school.

I'm not very up to date with RCM publications, but I remember reading about a booklet that comes with War of 1812 coins, but I don't know the title. I don't know about the rest, sorry. I'll check in the library catalogue if they have any more RCM published books. They do have a few Bank of Canada published books, the same ones as they have on their website for pdf downloads.

I'm in Life Sciences, and I'll just say I'm in downtown, I currently live near one of the largest libraries in Canada. I mailed the residence office requesting a single room, and after a rather long wait they confirmed that I am getting one! Saves me from rather a lot of trouble

VICK, high school is over for me, I'm a first-year undergrad now.

Coin kid, you'll be amazed how fast the posts rack up!! Your a pillar of the community. When I started I thought 200 was a lot of posts. I felt luck if I'd attain that many. Now I'm past 500 and climbing.
It's refreshing to see such young people take interest in coin collecting, as opposed to solid gaming. I just don't get the gaming culture. My son just turned 15. When his buddies are over everyone's on a laptop and skyping one another in the same room. Four laptop sometimes I fear my Internet will crash.
Although lately they'll go use the trampoline , even in minus 11 or -22 weather for a few hrs. They've got the trampoline set up under the living room window. They take the screen out and go in and out via the window in there socks. It's kept clear of snow. It's like a doggie door for kids! They'll even take a bunch of blankets and quilts out on it. They seem to like to use it after 11 Pm. I just don't understand today's youth. So I kind a go with the flow. They are a good well mannered bunch!!

@ slur university can be some of the most fun and memorable times, so do take time to enjoy them and your time in Canada. Cool that your near one of the largest libraries. I love to read, it's my biggest hobby. My striking impressions has a blue rectangle with assorted coins shown dropping on it and the back is as you show. I got it for $15 shipped on ebay from the states. I treasure that book, it's well written and an enjoyable read too.

I like to play games myself, I have several emulators on my laptop and several Castlevania and Mega Man games for it. But I'm not really the type to be able to play for a long time since I kinda suck, then I get mad at dying (especially if I didn't save) and close the emulator.

When the holiday comes I can finally continue work on Legacy again. It's a project I've left on hiatus for too long!

I love going outside walking in the snow. It's my second winter here, and there's not few things to see downtown!

Is your cover like this?

Thank you for the response.I always enjoy your posts on
Victorian large cents and your knowledge and passion you
have for your series.
One publication I find myself returning to often is
Brian Cornwells :The Canadian Numismatic Scrapbook:
A collection of articles written for CCN.These were
written between 1984 and 1991.
