I need a little information and I'm not sure if this is the correct forum but here goes. While browsing the Cons and Canada pricing site I noticed that some of the coins have dashes going across the page and there is no price listed. Is that because those coins aren't in public circulation? I've been on the hunt for some of them through coin roll hunting but never come across any of the coins I'm looking for. If that's because they aren't available except through dealers then I'll stop wasting my time searching. An example of what I'm talking about is the 1999 Twonie. It is listed 3 times and they show a picture of a 1999 Twonie but they only show a value for the Nunavut issue. They have a picture of a regular 1999 Two dollar coin but I've never seen one in circulation.

it depends, I mean the 1999 toonie never circulated and it is only found in sets, I could be wrong... however I believe that the dashes also mean that they don't have a price for the particular coin, or that the coin is fv which is face value.

The dash just means there is no collector value to the coin.
For silver coins (or gold) it would be worth the melt value of the silver in the coin and for other coins it just means it is worth the face value. A 1995 dollar in VF grade is just worth a dollar.

Both above are correct. If the dashes go across all grades like the 1999 $2 Nunavut Mule in Circulation then the coin doesn't exist in that particular finish. If the dashes are just in the lower grades then it generally means the coin is face/bullion value although in a few specific cases it may mean there just aren't enough coins at that grade trading to establish a price point. If the dashes are in the highest grades then it means there aren't any in that high a grade or there may be a couple floating around but they haven't traded enough to establish a price point.
p.s. Checking Charlton, the 1999 toonie was not issued for circulation but only in BU sets. Plus Specimen and Proof of course.

Just because these coins were not "circulated" does not mean they are not out there. I just found a 2000-W Caribou quarter roll hunting, which was only in the set. I have also found 2 of the Christmas quarters, as well as one of the Olympic mascot quarters.
All of these have been broken out of their cages and set free by someone.

yes exactly right, and the 1965 LB is mostly known in high grades and was recently found in a 5 cent roll from the bank.

Thanks for your responses. There are quite a few I'm missing. Even buying rolls I can't seem to fill in the blanks for twonies between 2004 and 2011. Don't know where they all are. I've looked at hundreds. And cents are out of the running. With maybe 15,000 pennies sorted and divided into separate containers, I still couldn't find 1999 MAG, 2000 MAG, 2001 MAG, 2006P MAG & P NON MAG, 2007 & 2008 NON MAG, & 2010 MAG. When I checked on ebay I didn't see any of the 2000 & 2001 MAG's for sale. Just NON MAG's were posted. I didn't check for any others. Those are just a few I am missing. I think I'm going to have to go to a dealer to fill in the blanks.

I've only heard from one person up til now who has actually found a 2006P non mag in circulation.

Petersun - That's what I figured. Pretty scarce so I'm checking with a dealer friend to see if he can fill in the blanks for me, especially the pennies since they are no longer available in circulation. Something curious though. My wife has been going shopping and bringing back her change for me. Twice this past week she came in with a penny in her change. I was quite surprised but not surprised to see both times the pennies were U. S.! Must be a retailer who doesn't like the give a penny taker a penny routine the government has made us accept.

So even though these coins are listed in the Coins and Canada pricing guide, they may not exist! I just got this back from a dealer re: pennies I've been hunting for. -2000-Magnetic....does no exist -2007 non mag.....does not exist - 2008-non mag....does not exist -2010-mag..........does not exist yet the guide shows a price of 1 cent for AU for all of the above so I'm more confused than ever. Is the guide wrong? The dealer also said the 1999 P is in a mint set only. So should I trash the Coins And Canada guide and start using Charlton or some other coin catalogue? I really am lost now!

I agree with Punman. The 2000 Mag without P would be an extreme rarity if ever found, so I guess it's not even worth looking for.
Where did the 2013 come from?

Punman - Thanks for the info. If you were able to buy them then they must exist. I'll have to let the dealer I emailed know that and I'll have to keep those spots open in my somewhat meager collection. Wolfman 11 - I don't really have much of a collection to trade with. Thanks for the offer but I really only have one of each of the coins I do have plus I'm not much of a fan of using snail mail. I stick to local dealers and coin shows. I'll fill in the blanks eventually, I hope! And thanks again to everyone for all of your input. It's all very helpful and saves me some wasted time.

I have a lot of pennies old and current, this is info I believe to be correct 1999p and 2000p mag are test pennies and rare 2001p sets only 2006p mag/nmag zinc version very rare 2007 mag/nmag zinc version very rare 2008 not issued in zinc unless its a planchet error 2010 mag found in sets
I have not found these rare versions in circulation hunting. I only recently picked up a 2003wp set at a local coin show.

Also the 2006 no logo no p magnetic is pretty rare, I've found only 8 of them in circ.
