Had this coin for some time and can't remember how often I looked at it but was not able to place it. Today I finally was able to fully attribute it, so here it is:

Finally-Identified-Coin---Quiz-For-X--Day Finally-Identified-Coin---Quiz-For-X--Day

Before I provide the description, I give everyone a chance to either identify it or have a guess at it.
Any comment is welcome.

Plack of Mary Queen of Scots, dated 1557, I believe. Star-in-heart countermark of James Douglas 4th Earl of Morton, Regent to the young King James VI.

'philadelphian'

You have one of those? Or are you generally interested in Scottish coinage?

Countermark was applied in 1575 to confirm the coin as genuine and half the value.

For all who want to see a better picture of both sides https://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=105399
including an explanation of the countermark
and for a full explanation of the hostcoin plus to top picture of the obverse http://nms.scran.ac.uk/database/rec...00-066-108-C
