My question is: Why do they all look like crack-outs? Look at the holder the coin is in. Looks to me like the inner part if a PCGS slab. Photoshopped?

One of the other listings says they're from a "late coin guy"'s estate and that they're selling it for his widow, definitely possible but seems weird they know so much about them if they weren't the seller's coins, and they haven't bought or sold any other coins on ebay, ever. they're also selling several "new, unused, unopened" pine-cones  |

Just my opinion....but from everything I have seen, they look legit. But this sounds like someone came into this collection somehow, had a friend or specialist check them out, and is liquidating them quick. If it was a serious collector, why not drop a couple hundred bucks and have them Certified? It would pay for itself in the end.....and with what sounds like a NO RISK guarantee, if the price stays reasonable, I see some scores here..... Morgans arent my forte so this is just my opinion. I encountered a different seller in the past who used that part to hold the coin to take pictures. They may have gotten it from a previous cracked-out coin. Quote:
Maybe the seller has one of these also? He does not have a 1882 CC. He only has the 2 1879 and 1890 CCs. The rest are other MMs. In his completed sales, he only has 1 coin that was not a CC. Maybe he is not selling that coin yet? |

Low feedback rating, poor photos, and a confusing reverse used twice for 2 different coins that might or might not be the actual reverse of either coin. The obverse photo shows the coin in a holder, but not the reverse. Why would they take the coin out of the holder just to flip it over? Maybe seller is inexperienced, or else they are 'dumb-like-fox.' Maybe someone could message them about the "reverse" issue, and see what they say, and post it here. You guys are good  edit: IMO their 1886 O has 2 different reverse photos. Their 1897 O auction has a photo of an 1889 obverse. Are they using 2 different reverse photos, with coins in different holders, for the 1898 S? Their listings are a mess.  Edited by edweather

Those are REALLY messed up listings  Either they did it on purpose, on accident, or thought it didn't matter as long as the date and MM match the actual coin. They never do mention the usual "what you see is what you get" or the like (although I think that is covered by ebay policy). Their only guarantee is that it doesn't grade details although the other info can be argued based on the description. Quote:

I contacted the seller asking for more pictures this was her response: Quote:this coin is in a safty deposit box. these pictures were done by ebay seller dannyleefricker before he passed and his widow insists these pictures are the ones to sell his personal collection by. it is the exact coin you will receive. thanks love nikki - nikkisstuff2013 Does anyone know the validity of the statement about dannyleefricker? This just makes it more suspicious. Should I ask why the reverses of the 2 coins are the same? |

That seller existed and had over 1700 Feedbacks, many for purported higher-quality Morgans that went for decent money. No activity in at least the last year, so no auctions can be seen.
Story seems plausible.
