If it's a gold coin, I'd say ms64 or ms65, probably more towards a 65.

How can you grade a coin just seeing one side?

The coin is 1913 $10 gold. The reverse is like any other BOC gold coin and its in absolute mint condition. I am contemplating to send the coin for grading. At the same time, I have seen most 1913 $10 gold are basically original issue price value unless they are ms64+ and above. Thus, I am just asking general opinion on the grade to give me a feel if sending them for grading is justified. Thank you

Depends who you send it to. Mine is graded by NCGS in the States and I know it is a higher grade than if I sent it to CCCS in Montreal. I would avoid ICCS as they only use flips. I would recommend putting it in a hard case as the softness of gold will mark easily. Yours looks like it would grade MS65

I don't know if it's the photos or not but, it looks like a light rub in the fields... MS-64

Thank you for the inputs. I would send the coin for grading as this coin is a hand-select and I don't think there is any value with original packaging especially for 1913 $10 gold.

ICCS would grade this obverse side of the coin, and they would give it a MS-65. very nice obverse, hopefully the reverse is that nice!

Possibly a MS-64, but more likely a MS-65, excellent picture btw.

MJT, your coin looks to me to be as nice as the MS-65 1913 $10 coin currently available. Beautiful coin, well worth getting graded, in my opinion.

I will try to send out end of this week or next week to PCGS. I don't think I would go with ICCS just because of the soft flips like Jimmy mention. I will definitely scan the coin when it is graded. Thank you for all the comments

I have absolutely NO idea of how you guys can give a coin a grade without seeing Bothe sides of it

A lot of MS grades handed out here, What about the fields and the high points on this obverse?
It may be just the image provided , But it looks like the original Lustre is confined to the legends and the fields are barren of it

Without the benefit of a reverse image I would have to call this at AU55-58

trout1105, when someone posts only one side of the coin, I automatically assume that the posted side is the one worse than the other. I give this side MS64+ (which exists in PCGS), and assuming the other side is better, this will probably be the grade I'd stick with.

Because the OP asked for a grade and supplied only one picture.

I'm only grading that side of the coin but I'm assuming everyone is OK with this.
