I have a 1945 steel penny with a back of a dime instead of standard backing. wondering how valuable it is, and what I should do with it.

Well posting some pictures would be a good start, but usually they are novelty coins.

It is impossible to say what you have without a picture. However, no steel cents were minted in 1945 and your description sounds very much like a "garage job" such as the one coop has posted.
