Its a mini replica of a double eagle. Used to see them all over ebay in singles or bulk lots, ranging from 8 karat on up. Don't know if they are still showing up there.

Yep, still there. Asking prices start at $ .99, but some optimist is asking $100 for one. Search mini gold on ebay to see some.

Looks like it says "copy" in the sun on the reverse under the eagle.. sorry about the blurry picture :( you wont be able to see it but I'm looking at it through my magnifying glass although a bit faint..
