The patina looks a bit like gold patina I have seen on ancient jewellery.

Coins with this same basic design were made in the mid-1800s in tin, copper, brass, silver and gold. Unfortunately, this one appears to be a copy of the design as it appeared on the silver coins. If you look around the edge of the elephant side, you'll see a border of dots-on-sticks. This kind of border was only used on silver coins, as far as I can tell. Also, the single small star at the top of the wheel, above the elephant between the wheel and the border, indicates that the denomination is supposed to be a silver fuang, or 1/8th baht (listed in Krause as KM/Y 28). NGC example.

The image is that of an undated one Baht silver coin from Thailand minted in 1868 - Y#31 in my catalogue. Is it silver? Or is it some sort of copy/fake? Can't answer that from the picture alone.

I looked at some pictures of old Thai gold coins,i think it was 1/2 or 1/4 Bath but they where from some auction years ago. The picture looked very similar to my coin except the Lotus under the Pagoda was different.

And how much does you coin weigh? Plus what is the diameter? Very easy to work out where your coin would fit in.

The closest in size and weight would then be the undated (1868) Fuang - Y#28, silver coin with weight 1.89g. Perhaps there is encrustation on your coin to explain the weight difference. But otherwise it might not be silver at all and just some sort of copy.

After so many posts I still don't know conclusive if this is a cheap repro or something worth looking in to. A more clear statement would be very helpful indeed ;-)

You are expecting a little bit too much. Unfortunately it is impossible to determine from the picture what material the coin is, that is up to you. But even if it is silver it is not very valuable, see http://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/...-duid-329745
