A very loyal customer of mine on ebay received an email from banigheatza33@aol.com stating that it came from me and offering to sell the item that was running right now at a discount. I have been trying to get the ebay ID of this person, but so far have only received further emails offering to sell me items that don't belong to them. The most information I have been able to get from ebay is that this email address belongs to a valid member with 0 feedback.

I have already reported this email address to ebay as has the customer who informed me of this situation. It has also been reported to AOL. Please be very careful.

If they want to make it believable, they should make a better e-mail address! Thanks for the heads up.

I'd never respond to an offer like that unless it came through the ebay system and the user id matched the original seller. Even then I'd check the grammar and spelling for signs that the person is not a native speaker of English.

Well, number one rule is don't ever take up any offer for sale at ebay that is being sent to your email address. The reason is (only one reason) SPAM, SPAM, SPAM.

As ebay and paypal evolving they use your email address and ID as your identity (just like your driver license and social security). Once they have those info, you won't believe what they can do with those.

Yes, but they will always address you by name in the salutation of an email. Anything that starts with Dear ebay member or something similar to that you can stop reading and delete, it's bogus.
