I'll have to remove it from the new 2x2 I just put it in and check. That sure would explain it.

That would warrant a details grade (if given one at all,) right?

Yeah, Details for sure. For a realistic grade concept (my opinion only) I'd work from the stronger diagonal, not the weaker.

A bend was my first thought. It is possible the coin could have been straightened out since leaving circulation so any bend that once may have existed will be very hard to detect.

My guess is a pocket piece and the owner rubbed it in the worn locations.

Really? - I suppose somewhere on the list of possibilities ... but to achieve this level of differential wear would take years.
