Subject line says it all. It is ubiquitously listed when I see world coins for sale but I never figured out what it refers to.

Thanks!

KM# is an abbreviation for Krause & Mischler two authors who came up with there own way to catalogue coins from around the world.

An indispensible tool for those of us who collect on the Darkside. Expensive however. Your best bet is to hit up the local coin dealers, and see if they will part with older copies for less than the cover price of a new one.

www.numismaster.com

Register (it's free) and you can search all the coins you want for free. I do believe that you won't get mintage numbers, and you'll definitely have to pay if you want prices, but for just searching out coins, it's quite good, and the price can't be beat. If you find you want a hard copy, or you need the extra info, then, of course, pick yourself up a one or two year old copy from Alibris or Abebooks. They aren't completely up to date anyway. I got mine for way less than the price of a new one.

Yep, Krause-Mishler... And if youre like me, and into German stuff, you'll come across J# or J. or Jaeger as well... Karl Jaeger, who had his own numbering system again... :)

www.abebooks.com is your absolute best bet. I just did a search and found a herd (I think that's what you call a group of books) of 2007 for $9 - $11 including shipping.

I got mine from abebooks. It was in perfect shape. It was a library reference book. Only flaw in the book was the stamp and label from the library.

I did the same for mine: ex-library copy.
