That is a normal dollar. The top horizon line is doubled on all normal 1968 strikes. The only time you don't see it are on the small island and no island varieties (removed from die polishing). The valuable extra horizon line (EHL) has ALL the horizon lines visibly doubled.

So a DHL#2 isn't a separate variety like mentioned in C&C?

Nope.... it was removed from the Charlton catalogue and from Trends...

When was it removed from Charlton? I don't usually bother to check mine for varieties since my Charlton is older than I am. Just checked and it's not listed in 1996.

It was removed in the 67th edition... No idea when it was actually added... probably was before I collected nickel dollars...

Slurexe The 67th edition is 2013 and its got a great section on nickel dollars at the back, maybe you could get it from a library. SPP has a special mention for revising the second edition. Great work Roger.

I just checked my Charlton book and it only has 1968, no island , and small island. It does not mention DHL at all.
A friend asked me for a dhl,and when I researched it I came up with C&C site, but I am learning that the information on that site is not always accurate.
Thanks for the information.

Hopefully I'll find a 2013. Not in my library though, they have stuff mostly starting from the early 60s to the mid 80s on Canadian coins, out of that range and it's hit and miss if you're specifically looking for something. The funny thing is that they have the odd 1800s books on British coins.
Looks like I'll need to do a bit more searching on some C&C varieties.

If nickel dollars are your thing SlurExe97, perhaps we can scrounge one up for you...
Will you still be in Canada for the spring Coin Expo in Toronto in May?

I'm not really specialising in anything, I just keep whatever that comes by. I'll be gone by the end of April so I can't attend the spring Expo. I'll be in Canada for the fall Expo though.
Don't worry about the catalogue, I'm pretty sure I'll come across a more up-to-date one. there is a 2009 in my library, but it's in the reference section and not for borrowing.
By the way, there aren't any DHL listed in 1978, just normal and no island.
