I saw this coin of Theodahatus on ebay UK. I've never seen this type before (or heard of Theodahatus!). Some online searching only turned up one other example of this type and it didn't look much like this one, so I am assuming it's not real.

Opinions? It sold for around $350.

A matter of fact, I saw this same coin and considered putting a bid. I opted aganist bidding for the same reason you stated. The coin is really scarce and good examples go for $800-$1000, in lesser condition. In my mind if there is doubt then there is no doubt...

Same here, it doesn't look right. The surfaces and the fat, well-defined letters. Doesn't help that the seller has 7 negs and 13 neutrals.

I don't like the looks of it. The overall appearance of the coin says fake to me.

Didn't really have the time to post it when this thread was still fresh, but I do have a Theodahad to contribute to this thread. Not the same type of coin as the fake but it is a genuine coin of the Ostrogoth ruler:

Theodahad, Ostrogothic Kingdom
AE Decanummium
Obv: INVICT-A ROMA, Roma helmeted, facing right
Rev: DN / THEODA / HATHVS / REX within wreath, X below
Mint: Rome (struck 534-536 AD)
Ref: COI 90
