Is 18 pics way more than enough to get Grade opinions? 2 of the full coin and the rest are close up of details.

Or are the 2 pics of the full coin enough?

Those who have graded even my blurry pictures have been exactly right after sending them to NGC. Some on here are scary good.

If the others are to attribute variety, then they are helpful, but usually full Obv. and Rev. pictures are enough.

Full obverse, full reverse, and just get some light on the coin. Not too much, but a straight-on shot with plenty of light should be good enough.

Couldn't have said it any better.

If I'm presented with poorer images, I can make a fair go of grading it with certain caveats, but I can't teach you how I did it. You only get there after thousands of practice iterations learning both grading, and grading photographs - two entirely different disciplines. We have a good average on these because we've looked at a lot of them.

To answer the other question: I want sharply-focused, white-balanced images cropped to the rim of the coin of no less than 750 pixels dimensionally. With that, I'll not only offer a grade but I'll teach grading.

And if you can't achieve those results, we'll show you how to for an equipment cost equal to one nice coin. Or how to come pretty darn close with an iPhone.

Thank everyone. Now I know I have to get better pics. Using my HTC phone so may take me some time to figure out.

I would like to add that you should keep it to no more than 2 coins at a time. When folks post more than that I usually pass on grading them. It hurts my brain

full obverse and reverse pics are usually all that is needed.
