I am not sure what to make of the pepper dots on this coin. Any grading feedback would be greatly appreciated. I will send them in and let you know how close you were as well. Thanks! Edited by MontanaCMR 12/21/2014 5:24 pm

I can't see the "pepper dots" from the photos. However, the black dots could be from a reaction to the hydrogen sulfide in the air.

Ya, Nickel Guy, the black dots by the neck. Does this drop the grade? Otherwise, it looks pretty good to me.

Looks around AU-55, with a possible old cleaning. The spots are just toning or carbon spots. Friendly tip for pictures: take them in natural lighting, the bright yellow makes it hard to judge the surfaces and grade well.

Not sure if lighting is hiding marks, but looks at least MS64

I will try to take some better pictures as AU to MS is a pretty big range. Thanks for the feedback, grades, and suggestions.

AU DETAILS....On the original picture I see what appears to be a wheel mark on the obverse between the stars and liberty's facing side. On the second picture of the obverse, I see cleaning scratches behind her head....On a good day you might get unc details....I think the problem your having with the photo is that your cameras focus is catching the top half of the coin. Dont worry about how the luster and and lighting looks. Lay the coin flat, put your camera on a high MP, hover over it and zoom in. Then crop the photo.. You will be able to see the high points of this coin much better. MAKE SURE YOU DONT INCREASE BRIGHTNESS! All this will do is over expose and reduce the visual details.
Good luck!

AU-details. Without knowing what the dots are, I am hesitant to calling it problem free.
