I just discovered this community and have a burning question. I got this in a small collection. Appears to me to be token, but can't attribute. Collection was in storage since 1979 so predates that, but don't know how much. White background is a 2x2 insert for a flip - for size reference. I've only seen one on e-Bay in either current or completed auctions. It was described as a "Temple Token" but had no background or attribution either. They listed a starting price of $100 which seems to indicate they didn't know what they had either.

A larger picture would be helpful.
But based on the amphora and the lettering it should be a jewish token.

Alas, this is not a coin, but a replica of one. More specifically, it's a replica of a Second Jewish Revolt silver sela, which were overstruck on Roman Provincial tetradrachms roughly around AD 130 AD. We've seen them numerous times on the forum before; here's one. The direct Wildwinds link to a genuine one in that old thread no longer works; to see one, click here and scroll down to the links in the entry labelled "Hendin 711".

Thanks so much. My first thought was Hebrew, but the 5 point star (rather than 6) above the temple made me doubt.
