I think I have a Struck Through Grease error. Little more missing than many of the struck through's I have found, but not as much as some of them - lol.

Wow that's a big one. This was a CRH find right? If so, that's quite a nice find!

What is the weight and thickness of your coin? If normal, then it is a struck through. But the weakness of the design in that pattern makes me wonder if it is a thinned planchet?

Checked thickness - it looks like it was a thin planchet in both of the areas of the coin where the weakness meets the edge of the coin.

I thought so with the weakness on the design of that coin. The thickness was not normal so the deeper devices were not fully formed. Not a struck through error.

Yeah - it looks like its thin through that entire weak spot. Thanks for the ID.

General Question to error collectors - what would be more desirable in this case - struck through or thin planchet? Either way the coin is an error and is interesting, but I am just trying to gauge if one or the other situation would be better - the curiosity is getting to me.

Personally, I find it more interesting as a planchet error because that makes it much less common than a coin Struck Through Grease. I would guess that it will weigh something less than 2.5 grams judging by the weakness, at least 20% light. It is also worth noting that your photos do a good job of displaying the luster in the fields, that coin is no less than AU.
