I already know an approximate grade, but only approximate. Curious of what y'all think.

Thanks.

The color on both of them looks wrong.
If it's not because of your pictures then I think both have been cleaned (dipped).

Far from an expert on cleaning / dipped coins, but kanga may be on the right track. The color around the stars look off, like it was difficult to clean near them.

On raw coins like this though, I tend to think they have all been cleaned at some point since circulation being 160 years old.

Nice features on the coin though really. Not a high end collector of large cents, but I have several.

I typically look at the Liberty and the top of the hair on the obverse and the 6 o'clock knot / ribbon on the reverse first.

Nice coins but the color is troubling to me also. As for grade VF25 and XF45 - just my humble opinion of course.

If they haven't been cleaned they are nice coins for sure. Just having a hard time with the color.

That pinkness in the first pics is from the WB in my camera (It's a cell phone). The second set of pics I posted is closer to the in-hand color. Can you see any other signs of cleaning? I think I can return them if they are cleaned. I can never tell if these things are cleaned or not though.

Here's one more attempt at the true color of the 1856...

Yeah, and if you got them from mintproducts, they are probably nice coins. I forgot you mentioned that in your OP.

I guess it would be helpful to those grading if I didn't set a copper coin on a green folder and shine a yellow light on it while the WB if my camera is set to "auto"...

Photography I suppose is part of the learning curve.

1851 VF-35, 1856 EF-40 both original surfaces.
