I was browsing a website looking for good deals, and I saw that there was a section for copies. When I opened it up, there were 2 reproductions for $125 and $50!
Here is the link: http://www.villagecoin.com/p/cop/cop1804dol.html
What do you think?

An uninformed individual will probably scoop this "copy" up and believe that they found something rare.

I bought one for $2.00 on Amazon. It's a really good copy too. It's the closest I'll ever get to owning a real one.

I love the invasion of new sellers on ebay that claim to have rare coins, errors and varieties that most people search for for years and never have the luck to locate one.

Most of these sellers have no feedback, but this seller has 100% positive feed back for a coin they bought in the last 12 months.

It's a 2005-D Extra Tree DDR. One problem with the listing
161533044752 is that it only shows one photo of the obverse, so it makes it a little harder to determine the DDR number or if it has an extra tree. In fact you can't even tell the year of reverse design from the photo.

The other problem is that the details tell us that this is a "24K 2005 d Minnesota 50 state gold quarter." I don't remember a 50 State Quarter Series in gold from the Denver mint, but I could have missed it.

$125-For-A-Copy?!-What?!

That's got to be rare! The opening bid is only $500 and has a reserve too! You can "Buy It Now" for $1000 if you're worried someone else with get to it first.

Did gold make a huge jump over night?

Yeah, considering you'd have to measure the gold content in micrograms.

This copy nonsense is going to eventually "kill" the hobby.

A fake 1804 dollar poses less of a threat to the hobby than the knockoffs of common 19th coins...which will eventually overwhelm collections. Someday, all collector coins may be assumed fake until proven otherwise.

I wish my stack of 1804 dollar counterfeits and copies were worth $125 combined let alone individually!

Ah well. The bulk of the value of modern copies is novelty so if they're able to sell one for that price, it's apparently worth $125 to at least one person. :)
