Just swung by the LCS on Christmas Eve to browse and I ended up putting this on lay-away...I really had no intention to pick up a 1877 this year, but I liked it and didn't want to let it get away.

I took these pics with my cell phone, so they are not the best. Sorry! But I would appreciate your thoughts...Thank you.

AG details. Don't like what appears to be a rim dent on reverse at 12:30 Hopefully you paid under $300 for it.0

It's pretty common for this date to show rim weakness on the obverse...details look consistent for a G4. I won't figure in the bump since I can't see the whole thing...

I like it and think it'll go G-4 at TPG'g.

Awesome coin! Love it! The weak "N" seen on the reverse here actually testifies to the legitimacy of the coin.

Well, I really liked the OBV of this coin, I think it is a solid G-4, but the dent on the REV was too much for me.

Embarrassingly, I really didn't notice it until I got home and blew up the pictures for my cellphone.

Luckily, LCS was cool with me backing out, so I put the original "down payment" towards a 1909-S IHC. Photos coming soon!

I am very depressed that I am not going to have an 1877 anytime soon, but I think it is important to be able to feel good about a major coin purchase like an 1877.

Good idea to return it.
Otherwise, every time you looked at it, that rim bump would bother you to no end.
Just wait, the right one will come along someday.

Do what works best for you.

The 09-S coins show up a lot more than the 77's do.

It took me a while to see the rim dent. Despite that it is a pretty good looking coin and if you got it for a good price I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to hold on to it.
