A lovely coin, Liberty8724. I like that look on SLQ's. What you're looking at is a die crack around the date. If I am seeing it correctly below the mint mark, it will probably become a Retained Cud later in use. This is a known stress point on the SLQ die, and there are even 1918-S examples with a different crack through the date.
