Who's an expert on Indian Heads? I believe I have an 1888/7 Indian Head cent, but I'm not sure. How obvious should it be? If you look very closely with a loupe, you can see what I think is the top of a 7 above the last eight. Should I get my hopes up?

Sorry, this is the best picture I could get with a mediocre phone camera and keeping it under 100 KB. What I see is a bit of discoloration above the last eight. I just want to make sure I won't sell a $1000 penny for $1. Thank you all for the help!!

You should be looking under the 8 rather than the top. Here is my 1888/7, see the bump under the 8?

A picture of your entire obverse would be helpful to check date positioning.

Date position and the bump at the bottom are the telltales. As you can see from Mike's coin, the bottom of the 7 is visible even on well-worn coins.
