I'm thinking of purchasing it, but I would appreciate your thoughts on whether it is a 1914/3 variety. Thanks for your input in advance.

Yes, this appears to be one of the I believe 15 different varieties that have been classified as an 4/3 overdate. Ron Pope has the complete list
CP I believe lists 2
I have listed 6
Caution. Earlier this year I did research and wrote an article refuting all of these as a 4/3 overdate. NGC will not certify these as an overdate and I was told PCGS will list the two CP varieties as 1914 "4/3", which states that it is questionable. John Wexler also refuted these as overdates.
If you want, write me and I will send you the PDF. Bottom line, determine for yourself if it is an overdate, it is your money.

I recall a lot of discussion as to whether this is classified as an over date or a die chip. Most TPGs, as I have read, will not grade it as an overdate. Depending on the cost of this coin, I'd do more research. Just google the overdate contraversy and you'll get several sites. I dropped my Cion Facts membership at PCGS but remember a discussion as to whether they would grade the coin as an overdate also. I have read that ANSAC will not grade the 1914/3 as a overdate. I am no Buffalo nickel expert by any means, but you should get more info before making a large investment.

@kevinj I would be interested in reading your PDF. However, when I tried to Email you from this sight, it said your not receiving Emails at this time. Also, does this coin look like one of the CP varieties PCGS would slab?

You and I go back a ways, being a 2¢ collector, I've bought most of your books and we've emailed many times, nice to see you here! P.S. Thanks so much for sending me the John Story Jenks books before you published it, I just purchased a Chapman copy with plates of his auction catalogue, one of my Numismatic library highlights, your book got me excited about acquiring my own copy. Hope to see you here more often.

nickel guy - did not get your email yet, did you send it to the kevinjflynn88 at yahoo?
Joe - Thanks, appreciate the hello
Westcoin - Jenks is still my favorite person, who reflects what is good in the hobby. All of the great collections are nice, reading about Jenks was inspiring. His catalog would be the center of my collection also, it was incredible how much info was there, and before the age of internet knowledge.
