I can't get the reverse to load, for some reason.

Thank you for understanding.

It looks to me like it's from a mint set. It would be nice to see the reverse. Is it a type 1 or 2?

However, based on the obverse alone I'd say we're probably looking at a MS65+. The fields are nice and clean but there appears to be just a little bit of what look like bag marks on the portrait.

I wait to hear from the experts to see if my amateur analysis comes close.

Your input is as good as it gets. Particularly if the old guard does not weigh in.

It is a TYPE 1, which is the love of my collection(s).I will try again to load the reverse.

I agree with you, this coin was in a bag, at one time or another.

N J BOB, may I please ask you if it is a peg leg, or maybe only a what-a-be peg leg?

From what I understand "peg leg" is the absence of serifs on the R in LIBERTY. I can't really tell from the photo, but it looks like it might be.

Can you take a photo that zooms in closer to the R?

Finally got the Reverse up.

I think the Obverse is a better grade.

I am not a good grader. Mostly I refrain from grading other peoples coins.

All this dark "stuff" on the reverse will set the coin downward in the overall grade.

MS 64+ is what I'd give it, because of the noticeable scratches.

I'm going to stick with a MS65. It's a very nice coin.

Coop, NJ BOB, Peterson, JunJun, Fioti.

May I please thank you all, for answering my 2 posts, about grading, and is this a peg leg?.

I just bought it on ebay for $13.00 (including shipping). My greater interest in the coin was any possibility it is a pegger. The seller has a 25,000+ record, and my thoughts are he considered the coin only as a nice MS grade, and the SILVER in the coin.

If it will pass as a high grade MS+ PEGGER, the coin will rate (RARE or maybe VERY RARE)

Going to do more study on this coin, and will UP-DATE accordingly.
