It is a strange one. It looks like it could be ancient, but from where I have no idea.

had this back from the BM today very happy
This is an Iron Age copper alloy coin of the Ambiani (Gaul), 'Jester Head' bronze unit, struck c. 60-40 BC. This type is not recorded in the reference book by Delestree and Tache
