The fun thing about the aluminum Japanese 1 yen coins is that they FLOAT. If you VERY carefully put one on the surface of a bowl of water it will stay there. The surface tension of the water is enough to keep it from sinking.
The way I used to do it was to balance the coin on my index finger and slowly immerse the hand in the bowl. Done carefully enough the coin will float off your finger when it reaches the water's surface.
