Anyone Collecting Gold Coins Or Bars?

shatsi Pillar of the Community United States 1541 Posts	Posted 08/11/2005 4:11 pm My boss have customers who are buying gold coins and bars from him. I looked at one and its very pretty and tempting but ofcourse the prices are around $450s... 1oz coins are higher in price than the bars. Is this because collectors buy it? Does collecting these 1oz coins the same as collecting any other coin? With grades etc. These $50 coins. I guess I'm looking for any info or opinion that anyone might have. Nothing specific. ageka Pillar of the Community Belgium 2078 Posts	Posted 08/11/2005 5:11 pm I have noticed time and again that several countries ask way over fair price for gold coins and bars In Belgium coins on the official list are sold in XF or better for 1.5% over melt I can get american eagles, canadian leafs, australian nuggets and of course SA krugers at this price On top of that I can get pounds, 20 french francs, belgian 20 francs suisse 20 francs dutch 10 guilders etc The only coins that have a premium are MS in some coins MS in suisse francs eg do not commend a premium I attach official interbank prices For private persons add one euro per coin http://www.gold4ex.be/servlet/javap...or_new&lg=nl Report this Post to the Staff
rggoodie Moderator United States 23531 Posts	Posted 08/11/2005 11:55 pm Take a look at the Australian Nuggets, these gold coins come in: Weight face value 1/20 oz $5.00 1/10 oz $15.00 1/4 oz $25.00 1/2 oz $50.00 1 oz $100.00 2 oz $200.00 10 oz $1000.00 1 kilo $3000.00 So there is a gold coin for collectors in every price range.
